1. Pricing:

Hearing aids are expensive and generally not covered by insurance. We know that times are tough and in response to this, we are offering two different methods of paying for hearing aids.

Unbundled pricing

  • Hearing aids are sold at a 25% markup from our cost, plus a $100 non-refundable charge for fitting.
  • A trial period of 1 month, including two "check" visits, is included at no additional charge.
  • After the trial period, additional visits for adjustments are billed at the rate of $100/visit
  • Unbundled prices are presently offered for the Unitron line of hearing aids, and include hearing aids at the following price points:
    • $600 -- basic hearing aid
    • $1100 - advanced hearing aid
    • $1500 - premium hearing aid

Bundled pricing.

  • Hearing aids are sold at a higher markup from list price, to support a larger selection and a higher level of service.
  • A larger repertoire of hearing aid brands is offered.
  • A trial period of 1 month is included
  • Replacement hearing aids (for loss) can be provided at the unbundled pricing level.
  • After the trial period, for one year, additional visits for adjustments are not charged.

2. Hearing Test

You will first need to have your hearing tested. The hearing test will provide a starting point for determining hearing aid candidacy. In most cases, hearing testing is covered by health insurance. A current hearing test (performed within 6 months) is needed to be fit with a hearing aid. Step 2 and Step 3 can be combined into a single 90 minute appointment.

3.          Hearing Aid Evaluation

  • Here the hearing aid candidate and family members sit down with an audiologist and discuss the hearing aids that are available. This appointment is for 60 minutes to allow time for discussion.
  • A decision will be made as to which hearing aid (or aids) is most appropriate based on your hearing loss and individual, specific listening demands.
  • A hearing aid evaluation fee will be charged at this time ($100). This fee covers the hearing aid selection process, the earmold impression(s), and a 30-day trial period.  Most insurance policies do NOT cover this fee.

4.          Hearing Aid Fitting

Two to three weeks after the selection, you will return for the hearing aid fitting. This appointment is also scheduled for 60 minutes. At this time, you will be instructed regarding the proper care, use, and maintenance of the hearing instrument(s).

Expectations and initial experiences will be discussed.

·       A 30-day trial period will begin at this time. The next month will allow you time to experience everyday situations and determine the benefit of the hearing aid(s).

5.       Hearing Aid Checks

After your hearing aid fitting, future follow-up appointments will be scheduled. There are “hearing aid check” appointments at 2 and 4 weeks following the fitting to help fine-tune the hearing aids and improve benefit. You can return the hearing aid(s) for a refund or exchange the hearing aids for another model during the trial time period.
